The 4th Grade team sliced through the District Qualifying Tournament in
Bethlehem, PA with a undefeated championship run, knocking off
tournament favorite Comets in a lop-sided game that earned the Magic its
first Middle Atlantic Gold Medals. The team played an aggressive
schedule that included tournaments in Fairfax, Virginia, Loyola
University in Baltimore, York, PA and Monmouth, NJ. They then traveled
to Orlando, Florida from 8/1-8/6 where they competed in the Division 1
National Championship Tournament, where the region's Gold Medalists
finished 13th place in the Nation! Congratulations to coaches Fran
Young and Bob Taggart, and especially the young players on a job well
done. Many thanks to the parents, whose support and positive attitude
made the season unforgettable.
The 5th grade team breezed through the early part of the season in
Fairfax, VA, West Chester, and the Rockers Jamfest and went undefeated
in pool play in the DQT before suffering a loss at the hands of Fencor
in the quarterfinals. Though the odds-on favorite to take home gold,
the team was eliminated from post-season play and wrapped up their
season with a gold medal, undefeated performance at the Renegades Summer
Rumble in June.
The 6th grade team was challenged by their
small size all season, and though they went 1 - 2 in pool play and did
not advance to bracket play, they experienced a strong win and even put a
halftime scare into regional powerhouse and eventual 3-peat champion
Fencor. The 8th grade finished 2nd in their pool at the DQT
after a somewhat uneven performance and 10-point loss to tournament
champion Fencor. After a disappointing first-round loss in bracket
play, the team strengthened its resolve and tightened its defense to
finish 1st in
the Lehigh Valley Super Regional Tournament on May 21/22. The Gold
Medal finish earned the team a bid to the D-1 Nationals. The
9th grade team got off to a late start due to the many talented players
whose high school teams had advanced to the PIAA State Tourney. The
group, made up of many new faces and headed by St. Basil's Academy's Dan
Kelleher, received their first taste of college exposure throughout the
season, culminating in a fun Player's Choice tournament at the Jersey
Shore. The 10th grade team, featuring several players from PIAA State
Champion Archbishop Wood and semi-finalist Villa Joseph Marie, put forth
a strong effort in the Middle Atlantic District Qualifier but were
eliminated in a tight semi-final game.
Our first 4th grade boys
team faced a big size differential week after week as they pitted
themselves against 4th and 5th grade teams from throughout the area, and
many received their first taste of the full-court press. Coaches Gregg
Sylvester and Rob Herbert introduced new skills and concepts and
brought the boys together as a team, helping them to achieve at least 1
victory in each tournament. We look forward to expanding this program
next season with both a 4th and 5th grade boys team.
2010 Results Congratulations to the Magic 12U on their success
at Division II Nationals in Rochester, Minnesota! The team went 3-0 to

Minnesota Stars, and New Hampshire Flames. They then advanced through
bracket play to the Elite Eight, where they fell to eventual tournament
champions, the LA Swoosh. The team rebounded quickly from the
disappointing loss to the Swoosh with a tough win over the Winston-Salem
Stealers and an all-out war with the NJ Sparks to earn 5th place medals
finish with an overall record of 6-1 for the tournament.

Mid-Atlantic
Magic 2010 DQT Results!
The 9U went undefeated in pool play
and advanced to the semi-finals, where they lost a tough game to
eventual tournament champions Lower Delco and then defeated Fencor 18 -
17, the winning basket coming with just 18 seconds remaining in the
game. The team earned bronze medals and a bid to Division 1 Nationals
in Missouri. The 10U team made it out of a difficult pool to advance to
the semi-finals as well, where they lost a heart-breaker to a
formidable Comets team, the tournament runner-up, followed by a tough
loss to Lower Delco in the 3rd place game. Their 4th place finish
earned the girls medals and a bid to Division 1 Nationals in Orlando.
The 11U went 1 - 2 in pool play
with a win over the tournament's overall third place finisher, the
Collegeville Jaguars. Though the team did not advance to bracket play,
they played three very competitive games and should be proud of their
accomplishments. The 12U team advanced from pool play to the quarter
finals, where they defeated a very tall, athletic Mid-Penn Motion team
74-64 to advance to the final four in what is arguably one of the
toughest regions in this age division. Their semi-final defeat came at
the hands of the tournament champions, the West Chester Sparks, the 7th
ranked team in the country, and their medal finish earned them a bid to
Divsion 1 Nationals in Minnesota.

The 13U team went 1-2 in pool play
at the Division 2 level, suffering defeat at the hands of the tournament
champions Delaware Angels and a 2 point loss to the Northeast Rockers.
Though the team did not advance to play Sunday, they should be proud of
their accomplishments and their growth as a team throughout the
season. The 14U team finished 2nd in their Division 2 pool, and won
their first game in bracket play to advance to the quarterfinals, where
they were defeated by the tournament champs, Fencor. The 15U team
finished 2nd in their Division 1 pool and advanced to the bracket play
quarterfinals, where they lost to the tournament champions, the Comets.
