Dan Kelleher has been in and around the basketball community in the Philadelphia area for the past 35 years. In 1977, he began his coaching career as the Assistant Coach of the St Ambrose CYO 8th grade boys, where his teams won Region II and area titles. In 1981, he became Head Coach until he took over the St. Ambrose CYO Jr/Sr High School Boys in 1982. His team won the Region II championship and area title and advanced to the Archdiocesan Title Game.From 1983 – 1986, Dan served as Lead Scout for the LaSalle College High School Varsity under head coach Les Burke, where the team played in Catholic League Championship Game in 2 of those seasons.
In 1987, Dan became the Assistant Boys Varsity Coach at LaSalle College High School under long-time head coach Marty Jackson. LaSalle was a perennial playoff contender and played in 3 consecutive Catholic League Championship Games from 1989 to 1991.
Dan became the Assistant Girls Varsity Coach at St. Basil Academy under head coach Terry Mancini in 2010. In his first year, the team won AACA and District 1 titles and competed in the State Tournament where they fell to eventual State Champion Archbishop Wood in a tightly contested game. The 2011 team competed in the AACA, District 1 and State playoffs.
In 2011, Dan joined the Mid Atlantic Magic as the 9th grade Head Coach. This team got its first taste of exposure events and finished its AAU schedule by going undefeated in each of its last 2 tournaments.
Dan has also run basketball camps at both LaSalle and St Basil.
